Annie B. Hemphill Spencer was born August 14, 1946 in Swiftown, MS to Thelma Hemphill Byrd who preceded her in death.  She was also preceded in death by her husband James L. Styles, Jr.; her 3 brothers: Emmitte, Benny and Jimmy Hemphill. Her sister Mary Ann Alexander, nephew Charles Lewis and her brother-n-law Jerry Spencer whom she helped raised.

Annie B accepted Christ at a very age at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Pastor Slack. She was married to James Lee Styles, Jr. and soon after they birthed a son, James Lee Styles, II.

Annie B married Jimmy Spencer in 1974 and raised 3 of her brother in-laws: Robert, Mitchell, and Jerry. They also raised her sister in law Lucy Spencer as their own. Jimmy and Annie B moved to Sikeston, MO in 1988. There they joined Green Memorial Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Charlie Green,. Annie was a faithful worker in the church where she served as an Usher and later on a Mother. In 2010, Annie B moved back to Leland, MS. She joined The Church of the Living God Pillar and Ground of the Truth under the leadership of Bishop Marion Modley where she loved and enjoyed services there.

In 2011, Annie B moved to Greenville, MS in her own home. She would often say, " I'm so happy and glad that my son and daughter in law moved me back to Mississippi." She said, "at first I wasn't, but I have more than I have ever had in my life and I am so happy that my son moved me.: We could see the happiness in her. "It's my house and I can buy me something if I choose to." She was grateful for the change in her life and it showed in her gratitude.

In 2010, she was under the leadership of her son, Elder James L. Styles II at The Church of The Living God The Pillar and Ground of the Truth of Leland, MS until she was called home on March 20, 2021. She was very proud to be under the leadership of her baby boy where she enjoyed singing and receiving the Word of Truth. She often say, " I'm so happy and I feel so good to be here at my son's church."

Annie B was a quiet, soft spoken woman who wore a serious look on her face majority of the time. She greeted you with a loving warm embrace that you could feel. She didn't talk much but when she spoke, it was time to listen. To see her smile and hear her laughter was a great thing. She loved her family and she gave many people shelter. She would also sometimes baby sit and nurse people back to health.
