Mr. A. D. Chatmon was born March 7, 1947 at the Taborian Hospital in Mound Bayou, Mississippi to the proud parents Bessie Warner-Chatmon and Roosevelt Chatmon.  He confessed his belief in Christ at an early age and joined the Pilgrim Home Baptist Church in Leland, Mississippi.  As a young adult A. D. joined First Baptist Church in Mound Bayou, Mississippi where he was a faithful member and sang in the choir until he moved to Brandon, Mississippi.  After visiting Mount Charity Baptist Church for several years, he and his family joined the Mount Charity family where he was a faithful member until Covid-19 and his declining health prevented him from attending.

A. D. attended elementary school in Shaw, Mississippi.   As a young child, A. D. worked with his father selling vegetables in the Leland community.  As a teenager he sold newspaper subscriptions  from Briesch High School in Leland, Mississippi. Immediately after graduation he was drafted into the United States Army and served two years.  After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, A. D. moved to Detroit, Michigan where he worked at the Ford Motor Company.  In 1974 he returned to Leland and worked in their family's grocery store and attended Delta State University.

After returning to Mississippi A. D. met and married Vivian Scott-Chatmon.   They raised two sons, Joseph Cooper and Antonio Deshion Chatmon.  A. D., fondly referred to by his family and friends as "Tony D", was a charismatic "self-made" businessman who was not afraid to start a new venture.  His favorite and most cherished work would be operating as a Disc Jockey at WBAD Radio Station in Greenville, Mississippi.  He worked as a distributor for Lance Snack Foods.  He owned and operated Chatmon and Associated Real Estate Company until his health no longer allowed him to work.

A. D. departed this life on Wednesday, December 11, 2014 at home with his loving and devoted wife and grandson.  He was preceded in death by one son, Antonio Deshion Chatmon; his parents Bessie Warner-Chatmon and Roosevelt Chatmon; brothers, Roosevelt Chatmon, Jr., Percy Chatmon, James Skinner, Marcus Chatmon; and sisters, Loretta Johnson, and Rosalind Hoskin.

He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Vivian Scott-Chatmon; a very special grandson, Kamieon Deshion Chatmon; six (6) children, Jackie (Eddie), Tony (Terry), Dion (Donna), Carl, and Joseph; four (4) brothers, Bobby, Earnest (Pam), Johnny (Doris), and Larry; seven (7) sisters, Gloria (Floyd), Hazel, Jessie Mae (Oscar); Carolyn (Everett); Doris (Willie), Brenda, and Sharon ; eleven (11) grandchildren; eight (8) great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
